Emiliano de Ezkauriatza

Emiliano de Ezkauriatza's (b.2000) small, meticulously detailed acrylic works on carved wood are born from the need to communicate out of isolation. Clothing the bio-mechanical vernacular of science fiction art in a fluorescent, technicolor palette, de Ezkauriatza mines the space between reality and fantasy to create pieces that are both sculptural and painterly. Networks of intricately executed acrylic strokes interact with the volumes and grains of their sculpted wooden grounds, eschewing the conventions of the artist’s chosen medium and ushering viewers into densely constructed landscapes where the desire for intimacy spills over into the manic delirium of the digital age.

De Ezkauriatza received his BFA in Visual Arts from the University of Monterrey, Monterrey, MX (2024), and received a Diploma in Contemporary Art from the University of Arts London, London, UK (2022). He has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Castilla y Kluyeva, Monterrey, MX (2024) and Peana, Monterrey, MX (2022). His work has been included in shows at Galeria Mascota, Mexico City, MX (2024); Centro Cultural Plaza Fátima, Monterrey, MX (2022); Centro Roberta Garza Sada, Monterrey, MX (2021); and Museo Marco, Monterrey (2018). De Ezkauriatza currently lives and works in Monterrey, MX.
