Lindsey Lou Howard

Lindsey Lou Howard (b. 1997) uses the process of sculpting, baking, and glazing ceramics to meditate on the representation of food in contemporary culture. Drawing on the visual-vernacular of foodie-memes, advertising lure and renaissance decadence, Howard crafts delicate monuments that brim with dramatic irony. Mindful of both the politics of food in consumer society, and of its historical weight as an emblem of excess, Howard’s ceramics mine the objects of our consumption for a spiritual resonance.

Howard received her BA in Art History, with an emphasis in Chemistry & Ceramics, at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO (2018). Howard’s solo exhibitions include presentations at Albertz Benda, Los Angeles, CA (2023) and at Launch F18, New York, NY (2022). She has been included in international exhibitions with works most recently shown at the Museum Stadtpalais, Stuttgart, DE (2023); Hashimoto Contemporary, New York, NY (2023); Lamont Gallery, Exeter, NH (2023); Aicon Gallery, New York, NY (2022); and Seefood Room, HK (2022). Howard just recently completed the PLOP Residency in London, UK (2023). She currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
